Frequently Asked Questions

Is the S5850374 compatible with both Tikka T3 and T3x rifles?

Yes. This is a magazine designed for rifles with the standard Tikka T3 and T3x magazine system. However, the model name alone is not sufficient – you must also check the rifle's caliber and magazine well construction.

How many rounds does the magazine hold?

The magazine capacity is five rounds. It is an extended magazine, so it protrudes more from the bottom of the rifle than a standard lower-capacity magazine.

Is the .308 Win magazine also suitable for other calibers?

Yes. According to the manufacturer, the same S5850374 magazine is suitable for .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, and 7mm-08 Remington calibers.

Is the magazine compatible with the Tikka T3x CTR or TAC A1 models?

No. The T3x CTR and TAC A1 use a different construction CTR-type metal magazine. For these models, you must choose a CTR/TAC A1 magazine for the appropriate caliber.

Is the magazine compatible with the Tikka T3x ACE Target rifle?

Generally not. The T3x ACE Target uses, depending on configuration, a CTR-type or other ACE magazine system. Before choosing a magazine, you must check the rifle's exact product code and magazine well.

Can the magazine be used with 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges?

The manufacturer does not list 6.5 Creedmoor among the compatible calibers for the S5850374 magazine. For this caliber, there is a Medium Plus or model-specific CTR-type magazine available, so compatibility should not be assumed based solely on similar cartridge dimensions.

Is the polymer magazine durable?

The polymer body is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and durable under normal use. However, the magazine should not be dropped on hard surfaces, exposed to high heat, or cleaned with solvents that could damage the material.

How to check magazine compatibility before purchase?

Compare the rifle model, caliber marking, and existing magazine product code. The most reliable way is to provide Jahipaun with the full model name or serial number of your rifle and ask for a compatibility check.

When is the Tikka S5850374 the right choice?

This magazine is a suitable choice for Tikka T3 or T3x rifles with a standard magazine system when a five-round original magazine is desired. Five rounds is a practical capacity for hunting and shooting range use, and the extended body is easier to remove from the rifle when wearing gloves.

If your rifle is a T3x CTR, TAC A1, or ACE Target, you must choose a magazine compatible with that model's magazine well. The S5850374 is not universal for all T3x models. Also, consider an alternative if your rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor or uses handloaded cartridges with an overall length longer than standard.

Expert recommendation

When choosing a spare magazine, the most important thing is to check not only the caliber but also the magazine well type. The Tikka T3x model series includes several different magazine systems, and a magazine that looks similar externally may not fit or feed cartridges correctly. The S5850374 is intended for rifles with the standard T3/T3x Medium magazine well, not for the CTR or TAC A1 system.

With a new magazine, it is recommended to check cartridge loading, magazine locking, and feeding in a safe shooting range before going hunting. Do not modify the magazine lips or body by filing or heating. If the magazine does not lock freely, does not release as intended, or a cartridge jams during feeding, stop use and check the product code. For cleaning, a dry cloth or soft brush is usually sufficient; excessive oil should be avoided as it attracts dust and dirt.

Practical five-round spare magazine for Tikka rifles

The Tikka S5850374 provides a five-round capacity for T3 or T3x rifles with a standard magazine system. The original black polymer magazine is a practical choice both for replacing a worn magazine and as a spare to take along for hunting or to the shooting range.
