Frequently asked questions

Is Norma Odin 6,5 × 55 SE 7,8 g suitable for roe deer hunting in Estonia?

Yes. The 7,8 g Odin is a hunting cartridge with an expanding bullet, suitable for roe deer hunting.

What bullet weight should I choose for a 6,5 × 55 SE cartridge for moose hunting?

For moose hunting, choose a hunting cartridge with an expanding bullet weighing at least 9,0 g. One option in the same calibre is Norma Oryx 10,1 g.

Are 6,5 × 55 SE and 6,5 Creedmoor the same cartridge?

They are different cartridges. This Odin is intended for a firearm chambered in 6,5 × 55 SE. When choosing a suitable cartridge, follow the firearm's markings and the manufacturer's instructions.

When is Norma Odin 6,5 × 55 SE the right choice?

Choose the 7,8 g Odin if you use a 6,5 × 55 SE rifle for roe deer hunting and prefer an expanding copper bullet. If you also use the same rifle to hunt moose, red deer or wild boar, choose a cartridge with an expanding bullet weighing at least 9,0 g for those species.

Our recommendation

Before ordering, compare the firearm's calibre marking with the full designation on the cartridge box. Odin 7,8 g is also available in 6,5 Creedmoor, so check both the calibre and bullet weight when buying. If you use multiple hunting loads in your 6,5 × 55 SE rifle, keep the cartridges in their labelled original boxes. This will help you easily find the right box before a hunt.

Try Odin at the shooting range with the same optics and firearm setup you use for hunting. Record the point of impact, shooting distance and cartridge batch. If you use 7,8 g Odin for roe deer hunting and a cartridge with a heavier bullet for moose hunting, keep the verification data for each separate. When opening a new box, you can use your earlier notes to choose the same verification distance and compare shot groups under the same conditions.
