Frequently asked questions

What type of shooting is Super Parcours intended for?

Super Parcours is primarily intended for sporting and parcours-style clay-target shooting, where presentations vary in speed, direction, trajectory and distance. It can be used for both training and competition.

What does the stated velocity of 450 m/s mean?

It is the manufacturer’s velocity figure measured at two metres from the muzzle. Actual velocity can vary with barrel length, temperature and the individual firearm.

Does the high velocity increase recoil?

Compared with a slower cartridge of the same payload weight, Super Parcours can feel sharper. Perceived recoil is also affected by firearm weight, stock fit, shooting position and the cartridge’s internal construction.

Can Super Parcours be used for trap or skeet?

It may be used where a 28 g load and 2.4 mm lead shot are permitted, although it is primarily designed for sporting and parcours disciplines. Check the ammunition rules for the specific event or shooting ground.

What is the benefit of the plastic wad?

The plastic wad guides the shot charge through the barrel and limits direct contact between the pellets and the bore. Wad construction influences pattern formation, although the final pattern also depends on the barrel and choke.

Can the cartridge be used in a 12/76 shotgun?

In general, a 12/70 cartridge can be used in a shotgun chambered for 12/76, provided that the firearm manufacturer permits it. Always check the gauge and chamber markings on the barrel or in the firearm documentation.

Is it compatible with a 12/65 chamber?

No. A 70 mm cartridge must not be used in a firearm with a 65 mm chamber. Use only ammunition of a length and pressure class approved by the firearm manufacturer.

When is S&B Super Parcours the right choice?

Super Parcours is well suited to shooters seeking a fast 28 g cartridge for sporting or parcours targets. Its 2.4 mm shot provides a versatile load for clay targets presented at different speeds, angles and distances.

A 24 g sporting cartridge may be more comfortable for high-volume training or shooters prioritising reduced recoil. Dedicated trap or skeet ammunition may provide a more suitable shot size and velocity for those specific disciplines.

Expert recommendation

At 450 m/s, Super Parcours has a noticeably sharper character than many conventional 28 g sporting cartridges. Pattern the ammunition with the intended shotgun and commonly used chokes before competition. Different barrels and choke constrictions can produce different results with the same cartridge.

Confirm that the firearm has a compatible gauge and a chamber of at least 70 mm. Always use hearing and eye protection, and verify that 2.4 mm lead shot is permitted at the shooting ground.

Fast 28 g ammunition for sporting and parcours shooting

S&B 12/70 Super Parcours combines a 28 g payload of 2.4 mm lead shot with a velocity of 450 m/s. Its plastic wad and 25-round packaging make it a competitive option for training and events featuring varied clay-target presentations.
