Frequently Asked Questions

What does DA/SA trigger system mean?

DA/SA means that the first shot with an uncocked hammer is made with a longer and heavier double-action trigger pull. After the slide cycles, the hammer remains cocked and subsequent shots are made with a shorter and lighter single-action trigger pull.

What is SIG Sauer SRT?

SRT or Short Reset Trigger is a mechanism with a shortened trigger reset. After firing, the trigger needs to be released less forward to prepare for the next shot compared to the standard P226 trigger system.

Is the SIG Sauer P226 Elite optic ready?

Yes. The slide in this configuration is prepared for mounting an optical sight. Before purchasing a sight, check the specific mounting standard and whether the required adapter plate or mounting screws are included.

Is an optical sight included in the package?

No. According to the manufacturer, this configuration does not come with a factory-installed electronic sight.

Does the pistol have a manual safety?

No. The P226 Elite does not have a manual safety. The pistol is equipped with a decocking lever, which allows the cocked hammer to be safely lowered as described in the user manual.

Is the barrel threaded?

No. The 112 mm barrel in this configuration does not have a muzzle thread.

Can SIGLITE sights be used without an optical sight?

Yes. SIGLITE night sights are standard mechanical sights that make it easier to acquire sight alignment in low light. They do not replace the need for proper target identification and sufficient lighting when shooting.

How many rounds do the magazines hold?

The set includes two steel magazines, each holding 15 rounds. When using the magazines, comply with the firearm and magazine restrictions in force in Estonia.

Is the P226 Elite suitable for concealed carry?

The P226 is a full-size pistol, 196 mm long and weighing approximately 919 g. It can be carried with a suitable holster, but for concealed carry, more compact models are generally lighter and more comfortable.

What are the requirements for purchasing the pistol?

This is a restricted civilian firearm. A valid acquisition permit or firearm license is required for purchase and ownership, and the transfer of the firearm is carried out according to the applicable firearms law and the seller’s instructions.

When is the SIG Sauer P226 Elite the right choice?

The SIG Sauer P226 Elite is suitable for shooters who prefer a metal frame, full-size grip, and classic DA/SA trigger system. The pistol’s mass helps reduce movement during firing, and the long grip allows most users to achieve a secure two-handed hold. The optic ready slide allows the use of both SIGLITE mechanical sights and a suitable electronic sight.

If your main goal is everyday concealed carry, a smaller and lighter P229 or P365 may be more comfortable. For users who prefer a competition pistol with a uniform trigger feel, only SA- or striker-type pistols may be suitable. If you need a threaded barrel, choose a configuration with the appropriate barrel.

Recommendations

We recommend trying the P226 Elite grip and trigger reach at the range or in-store before purchase, following the seller’s safety instructions. The E2 grip is ergonomic, but in DA mode, the trigger is further forward than in SA mode. The shooter must be able to make the first longer trigger pull without compromising grip or moving the sights.

When training with a DA/SA pistol, consciously practice both the first double-action shot and the transition to subsequent single-action shots. The SRT makes the reset short, but there is no need to artificially “catch” the trigger at the minimal reset point after firing—first develop controlled trigger handling and a consistent grip.

When adding an optical sight, check the compatibility of the mount, the correct screw length, and the torque specified by the manufacturer. After installing the sight, confirm the point of impact at a proper shooting range. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection, and handle the firearm as if it were loaded.
