Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 20-inch barrel mean?

One inch equals 25.4 millimeters, so the exact metric length of a 20-inch barrel is 508 mm. In some product descriptions, it may be rounded to 510 millimeters.

Is an optical sight included in the package?

The product description does not list an optical sight as part of the package. The sight and suitable Picatinny mounts must be selected separately, considering the sight tube diameter, objective size, and required mounting height.

Can a suppressor be mounted on the barrel?

The barrel muzzle has a 5/8"-24 thread. The suppressor, muzzle brake, or other muzzle device must exactly match this thread and .308 caliber. Only legal and technically suitable accessories may be used.

How many rounds does the standard magazine hold?

The Cartridge+ magazine supplied with the rifle holds five rounds. Sako also offers higher capacity magazines for suitable S20 calibers as accessories.

How does the Cartridge+ magazine differ from a standard magazine?

The Cartridge+ is a double-row, center-feed composite magazine. Cartridges are supported at the case shoulder area, leaving space in front of the bullet tip to reduce damage from recoil. The magazine can be disassembled for maintenance.

Can the stock be adjusted to fit the shooter?

Yes. The Hunter stock has a quickly adjustable cheek piece and the length of pull can be changed with stock spacers. Adjustment should be made together with the chosen optic and typical hunting clothing.

Can 7.62×51 NATO ammunition be used in this rifle?

The official caliber marking of the rifle is .308 Winchester. Ammunition should not be chosen solely based on external similarity of the cartridges. Use only ammunition permitted by the rifle's markings and the Sako user manual, and consult a qualified gunsmith or seller if in doubt.

What requirements apply when purchasing the firearm?

This is a firearm with restricted civilian circulation. Purchasing from the Jahipaun online store requires digital identification and presentation of the appropriate acquisition permit or gun license. Handover is carried out in accordance with the current firearms law and the seller's instructions.

When is the Sako S20 Hunter Camo Strata the right choice?

This configuration suits the hunter who wants to combine the .308 Winchester caliber, a relatively compact 508 mm barrel, and an adjustable hunting stock in one rifle. The Strata camouflage helps keep the rifle less conspicuous outdoors, while the 5/8"-24 muzzle thread allows for the choice of a suitable suppressor or muzzle brake.

The S20 Precision may be more suitable for users who primarily shoot at the range or from a rest. A more classic or simpler hunting rifle may be a better choice if you do not need a modular stock, QD mounts, or interchangeable S20 components.

Expert recommendation

Before mounting the sight, first set the stock's length of pull and cheek piece height. The shooter's head should remain in a natural position and the eye should be aligned with the optical axis of the sight without stretching the neck forward or sideways. Only then should you choose the correct optic mounts and determine the proper eye relief.

Before use, check the caliber, barrel length, twist rate, and muzzle thread as marked on your specific rifle. All accessories must have the correct thread and caliber. After installing optics or a muzzle device, the point of impact must be rechecked at an appropriate shooting range. The firearm must be transported, stored, and used in accordance with current regulations and the Sako user manual.
