Frequently Asked Questions

What is the barrel length of this model?

The barrel length is 660 mm, or approximately 26 inches. A longer barrel allows you to take full advantage of the velocity potential of many 6.5 Creedmoor loads, but the actual muzzle velocity depends on the specific cartridge.

How does the 660 mm version differ from the 600 mm model?

The 660 mm barrel is 60 mm longer and may provide higher muzzle velocity with some ammunition loads. However, the 600 mm version is more compact, about 100 g lighter, and easier to handle with a suppressor.

What does a 20 MOA Picatinny rail mean?

A 20 MOA canted rail provides more elevation adjustment for the optical sight for longer distances. Before choosing optics, make sure the scope's adjustment range is compatible with such a canted base.

What is the Arca-Swiss RRS® rail used for?

The Arca-Swiss rail allows the rifle to be quickly attached to a suitable tripod, bipod, or other support. The long mounting surface allows you to change the position of the support and adjust the rifle's balance for different shooting positions.

What accessories can be mounted on the M-LOK mounts?

With appropriate adapters, you can attach additional weights, sling mounts, supports, and other shooting sports accessories to the M-LOK slots.

How can the stock be adjusted to the shooter?

Length of pull, cheek rest height, and buttpad position can be adjusted. In addition, the thumb rest and pistol grip position and angle can be set.

What does a two-stage trigger mean?

The first stage of the trigger allows for controlled movement, and the second stage provides a clearly defined break point. The pull weight can be adjusted with a hex key in the range of 1–2 kg.

Is an optical sight included in the package?

No. The optical sight and its mounting rings must be purchased separately. The rifle comes with a factory-installed 20 MOA Picatinny rail.

How many rounds does the magazine hold?

The included metal magazine holds ten 6.5 Creedmoor rounds. The magazine release is located in the trigger guard for convenient magazine changes.

Can a suppressor be mounted on the rifle?

Yes. The barrel has a 5/8"-24 muzzle thread. The suppressor, muzzle brake, or adapter must match this thread and be intended for a 6.5 mm caliber rifle.

Is the Tikka T3x Ace Target suitable for hunting?

The rifle can be used with suitable and legal ammunition, but the 4.8 kg weight and competition-oriented design make it primarily a precision and range rifle. For hunting, it is better suited for stationary supported shooting rather than long active walks.

What are the requirements for purchasing this rifle?

This is a restricted civilian firearm that requires a valid acquisition permit. Purchase and transfer of the rifle are carried out according to current firearms law and Jahipaun's instructions.

When is the Tikka T3x Ace Target 660 mm the right choice?

The Tikka T3x Ace Target 660 mm is suitable for shooters whose main goal is PRS-type competition or precision shooting at longer distances. The heavy barrel, adjustable aluminum chassis, and the option to add extra weights help create the right balance for the specific shooter and shooting position.

If lower weight and a more compact overall length are more important, it is worth considering the 600 mm version of the same rifle. For shooters wanting a folding stock and a more tactical build, the Tikka T3x TACT A1 may be a better fit. For a lighter and more practical precision rifle for hunting, also compare the Tikka T3x UPR or Super Varmint.

Expert recommendation

The greatest advantage of the Tikka T3x Ace Target is the ability to set up the rifle exactly for the shooter and competition discipline. Before mounting optics, adjust the length of pull, cheek rest, buttpad, and pistol grip. Then choose mounts of the appropriate height and set the eye relief for the scope. This way, your body position remains natural and your cheek weld consistent for different shots.

The 660 mm barrel is ideal if compactness is not the main goal and you want to utilize the velocity potential of the 6.5 Creedmoor. Keep in mind that with optics, bipod, suppressor, and added weights, the rifle system may become significantly heavier than the 4.8 kg listed in the factory specifications.

Initially, it is advisable to add extra weights moderately. Test the rifle's balance in different shooting positions and only add weight where it improves stability or reduces unwanted movement.

Competition-ready Tikka T3x Ace Target

The Tikka T3x Ace Target combines a 660 mm cold-hammer-forged heavy barrel, 20 MOA Picatinny rail, and a thoroughly adjustable aluminum chassis. This is a well-thought-out choice for the sports shooter seeking an accurate, modular, and PRS-competition-adaptable bolt-action rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor caliber.
