Frequently Asked Questions

What is the barrel length of this model?

The barrel length is 600 mm, or approximately 24 inches. The overall length of the rifle in open firing position is 1116 mm.

What does 5/8"-24 mean?

5/8"-24 refers to the barrel muzzle thread size in inches. Any suppressor, muzzle brake, or adapter must match this exact thread and be intended for a .308 caliber rifle.

Is the muzzle brake included in the package?

Yes, this configuration includes a 5/8"-24 threaded muzzle brake. Please confirm the exact delivery set with Jahipaun before purchase.

Is the Tikka T3x TACT A1 stock foldable?

Yes. The rear section of the stock can be folded for transport and storage. For shooting, the stock must be opened and securely locked into the firing position.

How can the stock be adjusted to the shooter?

The stock features a quickly adjustable cheekpiece, and the length of pull can be changed with spacers. When adjusting, consider the height of the optics, eye relief, body structure, and usual shooting position.

What does a two-stage trigger mean?

The first stage of a two-stage trigger allows you to prepare the trigger in a controlled manner. The shot is released at the clearly felt break of the second stage, helping to control trigger pull during precision shooting.

Is an optical sight included in the package?

No. The optical sight and mounting rings must be selected separately. The rifle has a full-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, allowing a wide range of suitable optics mounts to be used.

How many rounds does the magazine hold?

The detachable steel magazine holds ten .308 Winchester cartridges. The notation 10 + 1 means ten rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Is the Tikka T3x TACT A1 suitable for hunting?

The rifle can be used for hunting with suitable and legal ammunition, but its 4.7 kg weight makes it especially suitable for ambush hunting. For long treks, a lighter hunting rifle is generally more comfortable.

Can 7.62×51 NATO ammunition be used in this rifle?

The rifle's official caliber marking is .308 Winchester. Ammunition should not be chosen solely based on cartridge dimensions. Only use ammunition permitted by the rifle's markings and the Tikka manual, and consult a qualified gunsmith if in doubt.

What are the requirements for purchasing this firearm?

This is a restricted civilian firearm, and a valid acquisition permit is required to purchase it. Buying and transferring the firearm is carried out in accordance with the current firearms law and Jahipaun's guidelines.

When is the Tikka T3x TACT A1 .308 Win the right choice?

The Tikka T3x TACT A1 is suitable for shooters whose main goal is accurate shooting at longer distances. The adjustable aluminum frame, heavy 600 mm barrel, two-stage trigger, and 4.7 kg weight create a stable platform for prone and supported shooting.

If you need to carry the rifle for long periods while hunting, a lighter Tikka T3x Lite or T3x UPR may be more practical. For shooters seeking a classic stock and simpler precision rifle design, the Tikka T3x Varmint is suitable. If you want a newer aluminum-frame solution designed specifically for competitive precision shooting, consider also comparing with the Tikka T3x Ace Target.

Expert recommendation

When purchasing the Tikka T3x TACT A1, consider the entire rifle system, not just the weight of the rifle itself. The rifle weighs approximately 4.7 kg without optics, mounts, bipod, and suppressor, and when fully equipped, the set may become noticeably heavier. This is an advantage in terms of stability and recoil control, but not for long carries.

Before finally mounting the optics, adjust the stock's length of pull and cheekpiece height. Only then choose mounts of suitable height and determine the scope's eye relief. This way, your head will remain in a natural position and cheek weld will be as consistent as possible with every shot.

To find the best .308 Winchester ammunition, it is worth testing several precision loads. After installing optics, muzzle brake, or suppressor, always recheck the point of impact at a certified shooting range.

Modular precision rifle for longer distances

The Tikka T3x TACT A1 combines a 600 mm cold-hammer-forged barrel, adjustable folding aluminum stock, and reliable T3x bolt system. It is a well-thought-out choice for sport shooters seeking a stable, customizable, and accessory-ready precision rifle in .308 Winchester caliber.
