Frequently asked questions

Is a 256 × 192 detector sufficient?

This resolution is suitable for heat-source detection and short- to medium-distance use. The 1024 × 768 AMOLED display and Reality+ processing help produce a clearer image, but a model with a 384 × 288 or 640 × 512 detector will reveal more fine detail and retain better image quality under digital magnification.

Is 1300 m the recognition or shooting distance?

No. It is the detection distance for a heat source measuring approximately 1.7 × 0.5 m under suitable conditions. Reliable recognition and identification distances are considerably shorter and depend on weather, target size, background and the selected magnification.

How does the P25R differ from higher-resolution BOLT models?

The P25R uses a 256 × 192 detector and a 25 mm objective, making it the more accessible model in the BOLT range. The L35R and H50R provide higher sensor resolution and more detail at longer distances. The P25R retains the principal BOLT features, including a 1200 m rangefinder, ballistic calculation, recording and dual-battery power.

How far can the laser rangefinder measure?

The integrated laser rangefinder has a specified range of up to 1200 m and an accuracy of ±1 m. Actual performance depends on the size and reflectivity of the measured object, weather conditions and how steadily the device is held.

Does the ballistic calculator replace live-fire zeroing?

No. The calculator uses entered firearm, ammunition and environmental information to estimate the required correction. Its accuracy depends on the quality of those inputs, and the actual point of impact must be confirmed safely at an authorized shooting range.

What does 3.5–14× magnification mean?

The scope has 3.5× base magnification and digital magnification up to 14×. Increasing magnification narrows the visible field and makes the detector pixels progressively more noticeable. The most natural and detailed image is obtained at lower magnification.

How long do the batteries last?

The integrated 5000 mAh battery and replaceable 18650 battery provide up to 12 hours of combined operation at 22 °C. Cold temperatures, Wi-Fi, recording and high display brightness may reduce actual runtime. The external battery can be replaced while the device continues operating from its internal battery.

Can photographs and video be recorded?

Yes. The BOLT P25R can save photographs, video and audio to its 32 GB internal memory. Recoil-activated video can begin recording when recoil is detected, while Wi-Fi enables connection to the N-LINK mobile application.

Can the BOLT P25R be used in rain?

Its IP67 rating provides dust protection and resistance to temporary immersion in water. It is suitable for normal wet outdoor conditions but should not be treated as diving equipment. Keep the battery-compartment and USB-C covers properly closed.

Recommended products

  • Nocpix BOLT L35R for higher sensor resolution and additional detection range

  • A handheld thermal imager for scanning

  • High-quality 30 mm mounting rings

  • Spare protected 18650 rechargeable batteries

  • A suitable 18650 battery charger

  • An optics-cleaning pen and microfibre cloth

  • A padded rifle case with sufficient clearance for the mounted scope

When is the Nocpix BOLT P25R the right choice?

The BOLT P25R is well suited to users looking for an accessible complete thermal scope with an integrated laser rangefinder, ballistic calculator, recording functions and long battery life. Its 25 mm objective and 3.5× base magnification are intended primarily for short- and medium-distance use.

A model with a 384 × 288 or 640 × 512 detector is the better choice when reliable recognition at longer distances or retained detail under digital magnification is the main priority. The P25R’s strength is its feature-to-price ratio: rangefinding, ballistics, Wi-Fi, 32 GB of storage and dual-battery power are also present in more expensive BOLT models.

A handheld thermal imager remains more comfortable for prolonged scanning because it allows the surroundings to be observed without moving the firearm. The P25R is better suited to users who require observation, rangefinding and sighting functions in one device.

Expert recommendation

The BOLT P25R uses a conventional 30 mm main tube, but the rings must suit the firearm, rail and required installation height. Maintain sufficient clearance for its 50 mm eye relief and ensure that the eyepiece, battery compartment and controls remain accessible. The scope’s position and point of impact must be checked safely at an authorized shooting range after installation.

Muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, sight height and other information entered into the ballistic calculator must correspond to the actual firearm and ammunition combination. Treat the calculated correction as an aid rather than a substitute for a confirmed point of impact.

Keep the spare battery in a warm inner pocket during cold weather and avoid storing it completely discharged for extended periods. Remove loose dust with air or a soft brush before wiping the objective lens. Always use the thermal riflescope in accordance with applicable hunting, firearm and wildlife regulations.

Integrated rangefinding and ballistics at an accessible level

The Nocpix BOLT P25R combines a 256 × 192 detector, ≤20 mK thermal sensitivity, a fast 25 mm F1.0 objective and a laser rangefinder operating at distances up to 1200 m. Reality+ processing, a 50 Hz refresh rate, 32 GB of storage and up to 12 hours of runtime make it a practical choice for users who want the core BOLT features in the range’s most accessible model.
