Frequently Asked Questions

How to control the Westin Jerk wobbler?

Give the lure short and gentle twitches with the rod and add pauses in between. You can also control the lure with the reel, changing the retrieve speed and making stops during the retrieve.

What is the difference between the 60 g and 65 g Westin Jerk models?

The 60 g model is floating and works at about 0.2–1 meter depth. The 65 g model is sinking and allows fishing at about 1–3 meters depth.

Which fish species is the Westin Jerk suitable for?

The Westin Jerk is primarily designed for pike fishing. Its 14 cm profile and lateral swimming action also suit other appropriately sized freshwater predatory fish.

Should I use a leader when fishing for pike?

Yes. Pike’s sharp teeth can cut through regular monofilament or braided line. Use a steel, titanium, or other bite-resistant leader with suitable strength for the lure weight and fishing technique.

When is the Westin Jerk the right choice?

The Westin Jerk is suitable for anglers looking for an easy-to-control yet versatile jerkbait for pike fishing. The 60 g floating version is a good choice for shallow bays, above vegetation, and situations where the lure needs to stay in the predator’s view during pauses.

The 65 g sinking model is better suited for fishing deeper slopes, vegetation edges, and water layers at 1–3 meters. In very shallow or heavily vegetated water, prefer the floating model; in deeper water, the sinking option.

Recommendations

Start calmly with the Westin Jerk: make one or two short rod twitches and leave a pause in between. If the fish are active, increase the tempo of the twitches and make the lure’s action more aggressive. In cold water or when fish are cautious, use longer pauses, as pike often strike the jerkbait during the stop.

Choose the model according to the fishing depth. The floating 60 g version is suitable for shallow water and above vegetation, while the sinking 65 g lure allows you to reach fish in deeper areas. With the sinking model, count the seconds after the cast to consistently fish the same water layer.

Use a rod with a casting weight range that includes the chosen lure’s weight. Always attach a bite-resistant leader in front of the lure when fishing for pike. Regularly check the sharpness of the hooks, split rings, and lure body, especially after contact with rocks, wood, or fish teeth.

Easy-to-control jerkbait for pike fishing

The Westin Jerk combines smooth lateral swimming action, a durable wire-through construction, and two different working depths. The floating 60 g and sinking 65 g models allow you to choose the right jerkbait for both shallow, weedy waters and deeper fishing spots.
