Frequently Asked Questions

Does the EXO 12 fit two pistols?

According to the manufacturer's compatibility guide, the case can fit one pistol up to 12 inches or two pistols up to 9 inches. Actual compatibility depends on the width of the firearms, optics, and accessories.

Is the case suitable for an optic cut pistol with a sight?

An optic cut alone does not determine case compatibility. You need to measure the total length and height of the pistol including the installed optic.

Is the EXO a hard case?

The thermoformed outer shell gives it more rigidity than a typical soft pouch, but it is not equivalent to a robust, pressure- and waterproof hard plastic case.

Can the zippers be locked?

Yes. The zippers allow for the use of a small suitable lock. Lock not included.

Is the EXO 12 suitable for air travel?

A soft or semi-rigid zippered case may not meet airline requirements. For air travel, use a rigid lockable case that complies with carrier regulations.

When is the Allen EXO 12 the right choice?

The EXO 12 is suitable for a larger or longer pistol and for users who want something stronger than a typical soft pouch but more compact than a rigid plastic case. The larger internal area also allows carrying spare magazines of suitable size.

For a single compact pistol, the EXO 9 is smaller and more convenient. For pistols with optics, weapon lights, or compensators, measurements should be compared especially carefully before purchase.

Recommendations

We recommend placing the pistol in the case unloaded and in such a way that the safety, optic, and magazine release are not pressed by the foam padding or another firearm. When placing two pistols, there should be enough foam or other protective material between them.

A lockable zipper does not turn the EXO case into a gun safe. When storing or transporting a handgun, follow applicable regulations and do not leave the case unattended in a visible location.

Supported and padded case for a larger pistol

The Allen EXO 12 combines a thermoformed outer shell, profiled foam interior, and lockable zippers. It is a convenient solution for protecting a larger handgun on trips to the shooting range or in a gun safe.
