Frequently Asked Questions

Is the S&B Vega 16/70 suitable for a gun with a 16/65 chamber?

No. A 70 mm case cartridge must not be used in a gun marked only for 16/65. Always check your gun’s caliber and chamber markings.

Which shot size should I choose?

The choice depends on the game, shooting distance, your gun’s pattern, and hunting regulations. The exact suitability should be confirmed by patterning your gun on a target.

Does the cartridge contain steel shot?

No. This Vega variant is loaded with lead shot. The use of lead shot may be prohibited in certain areas, so always check local requirements before hunting.

What does velocity V2 mean?

V2 means the velocity is measured two meters from the muzzle. It should not be automatically considered as muzzle velocity V0.

When is the S&B Vega 16/70 the right choice?

Vega is suitable for users of 16/70 shotguns who want a classic 30-gram lead shot load and the option to choose between several shot sizes. It is a shot cartridge, designed to produce a pattern of multiple pellets.

If there are lead shot restrictions in your hunting area, you must choose a load made of steel or another permitted material suitable for your firearm. For hunting with a single large projectile, consider a slug cartridge, but only if your gun and barrel or choke configuration allow it.

Recommendations

We recommend choosing the shot size according to the game and actual hunting distance, and pattern testing the cartridge with your shotgun. The same cartridge can produce very different density and distribution depending on barrel and choke. Always perform test shooting at various realistic distances in an approved shooting range.

Before use, make sure your gun’s chamber is marked 16/70 or a longer chamber of the same caliber. Also check the permitted shot material in your hunting area, as this Vega configuration uses lead shot. If your gun is old or its markings are unclear, have its condition and chamber size assessed by a qualified gunsmith. Store cartridges in a dry place and remove any damaged or corroded cartridges from use.
