Sellier & Bellot .22 LR Subsonic LRN is a reduced-velocity rimfire cartridge intended for training, target shooting and use in suppressed firearms. Its 40-grain round-nose lead bullet travels at 300 m/s at five metres according to the manufacturer’s current ballistic data.

Because the bullet remains below the speed of sound, it does not produce the ballistic crack associated with supersonic ammunition. It is not completely silent, however: the muzzle blast, firearm action and bullet impact remain audible.
