Frequently Asked Questions

What is the length of the Browning X-Bolt 2 Distance Eclipse .30-06 barrel?

The barrel length is 584 mm or 23 inches. A longer barrel provides better stability and allows the .30-06 Springfield cartridge to reach good velocity potential depending on the load.

How does the .30-06 Springfield version differ from the .308 Winchester model?

The .30-06 Springfield uses a longer cartridge case and a longer action. This allows for a wide variety of hunting loads with different bullet weights, but recoil may be stronger compared to a similar .308 Winchester rifle and bullet. The overall length of the .30-06 model is approximately 1120 mm.

Can a suppressor be mounted on this rifle?

Yes. The barrel muzzle has an M14×1 thread. The suppressor or other muzzle device must match both the thread and the .30 caliber bullet diameter, and installation must comply with applicable regulations.

Can the stock be adjusted to fit the shooter?

Yes. The cheek piece height is adjustable, and the length of pull can be changed with the included 7 mm spacers. The stock should be set up in conjunction with your chosen optic and typical hunting clothing.

How many rounds does the magazine hold?

The detachable DBM magazine holds four rounds. With one round in the chamber, the maximum technical capacity is 4+1, provided this is allowed by the situation and current regulations.

Is an optical sight included?

No. The rifle is prepared for optics use, but the scope and suitable mounts must be selected separately. The mount height should be matched to the scope objective, adjustable cheek piece, and shooter’s shooting position.

What are the requirements for purchasing this rifle?

This is a restricted civilian firearm. A valid acquisition permit is required for purchase and transfer, and all requirements of firearms law and seller’s sales procedures must be met.

When is the Browning X-Bolt 2 Distance Eclipse .30-06 the right choice?

The Distance Eclipse is suitable for hunters who want a bolt-action rifle with an adjustable wooden stock, longer barrel, and versatile .30-06 Springfield caliber. The thumbhole, height-adjustable cheek piece, and wider fore-end help achieve a stable position for stand hunting and supported shooting.

The shorter-barreled X-Bolt 2 Nordic may be more convenient in dense forest, in vehicles, and when moving with a suppressor. The .308 Winchester model is ideal for those who prefer a more compact action and generally milder recoil. The .300 Winchester Magnum offers greater power at longer distances, but its recoil, ammunition cost, and shooting comfort may be more demanding.

Our recommendations

Before mounting optics, adjust the length of pull and cheek piece height. Proper adjustment allows you to place your head in the same position every time and see the sight picture without straining your neck. As the rifle has no open sights, choose a reliable optical sight and mounts that fit the rifle’s Picatinny rail.

The .30-06 Springfield offers a wide selection of ammunition, but not all loads will produce the same point of impact in every rifle. At a certified range, test several cartridges with suitable bullet weights and construction, and re-confirm zero after installing optics, suppressor, or muzzle brake.

Note that adding a suppressor to a 1120 mm rifle will make the overall length significantly greater. After use in rain or snow, dry the rifle, clean the metal surfaces, and treat the oiled wooden stock with a suitable product.

.30-06 bolt-action rifle with adjustable wooden stock and long barrel

The Browning X-Bolt 2 Distance Eclipse combines a 584 mm free-floating barrel, M14×1 muzzle thread, DLX trigger, and an Eclipse wooden stock adjustable to the shooter. It is a well-considered choice for hunters seeking a versatile .30-06 Springfield rifle for stand hunting, open terrain, and precise shooting with optics.
