Frequently Asked Questions

Which firearms is the Hoppe’s Gun Vise suitable for?

The bench is primarily designed for standard-stock rifles and shotguns. The suitability for firearms with unusual stocks, pistol grips, large magazines, or additional accessories should be checked separately.

Does the bench need to be screwed to the workbench?

No. The Gun Vise is a standalone maintenance bench with adjustable legs. For stability, it should be placed on a strong and level work surface.

Is the bench suitable for sighting in a firearm?

The bench can help with cleaning and initial alignment of optics, but it is not a shooting rest and does not replace actual sighting-in at the range.

Is the material resistant to gun cleaning chemicals?

The bench is made of chemical-resistant polymer. However, any spilled cleaning agent should be removed as quickly as possible, and the surface should be cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions after use.

Can the firearm be clamped tightly to the bench?

The supports should be tightened only enough to achieve stability. Excessive pressure may damage the stock, finish, or the bench's mechanisms.

When is the Hoppe’s Gun Vise the right choice?

The Hoppe’s Gun Vise is suitable for users who regularly clean rifles or shotguns and want to keep the firearm stable and organized during work. It is especially practical for cleaning the bore, as both hands remain free for handling the cleaning rod and accessories.

For pistol maintenance, a smaller maintenance mat is usually more convenient. For barrel replacement, installing high-torque mounts, or gunsmithing, use a rigid vise and model-specific mounting blocks.

Recommendations

We recommend placing the bench on a strong, flat, and well-lit work surface. Always ensure the firearm is completely unloaded, magazine removed, and chamber visually and physically checked before securing it. Ammunition should be removed from the maintenance area.

Adjust the position of the front and rear supports according to the shape of the firearm and tighten the knobs gradually. The firearm should remain stationary, but the stock or other parts should not be compressed. Be especially careful with oiled wooden stocks, soft rubber recoil pads, and thin synthetic stocks.

Use the storage compartments to separate work stages: keep clean accessories in one area and used patches and brushes in another. After maintenance, remove chemical residues, dry the bench, and check that no abrasive dirt remains on the support contact surfaces.

A stable workspace for regular firearm maintenance

The Hoppe’s Gun Vise Grey combines adjustable gun supports, chemical-resistant construction, and organized accessory compartments. This makes cleaning your rifle or shotgun more convenient and helps keep maintenance tools within reach during work.
