Frequently Asked Questions

Is the RC22R suitable for a .308 Win firearm?

No. RC22R is intended for calibers .22–.284. For .308 and other .30 caliber firearms, choose the thicker RC270R or RS30R.

Why prefer carbon fiber?

Carbon fiber combines low weight and good rigidity and, with proper use, does not damage the bore with metal joints.

Is the 91.4 cm rod suitable for all rifles?

Check the total length of the barrel and receiver. The cleaning rod, together with the guide and handle, must pass completely through the barrel.

When is Hoppe’s Elite RC22R the right choice?

RC22R is ideal for frequent and controlled rifle maintenance when you want a one-piece, lightweight rod with a rotating handle. For transport, the three-section 3PA22 is more compact, but it has multiple joints.

Recommendations

We recommend keeping the carbon fiber rod straight and separate from dirty brushes. Use a chamber guide and wipe the rod with a clean patch after each pass. Although carbon fiber is gentle on the bore, solid particles attached to its surface can become abrasive. Do not bend the rod sideways or use it to force out a stuck tip.
