Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the Real Avid Bore-Max Smart Rod AVBMSR3044?

The manufacturer's specified length is 44 inches or 111.8 cm. In the Jahipaun product name, the length is rounded to 110 centimeters.

Which calibers is this cleaning rod suitable for?

The manufacturer-specified range is .270–.45. Although the model is often referred to as a .30 caliber rod, it can be used with other barrels within this range, provided the selected brush, jag, and patch match the firearm's caliber precisely.

What thread do the cleaning accessories need to have?

The rod has a standard 8-32 female thread. However, always check the accessory’s thread and caliber compatibility before installation, as not all cleaning accessories use the same standard.

Why does the cleaning rod have a rotating bearing?

The Ultra-Glide bearing allows the carbon fiber rod to rotate during cleaning and follow the rifling of the barrel. This reduces lateral stress and makes the movement of the brush or jag smoother.

When is the Real Avid Bore-Max Smart Rod 110 cm the right choice?

This model is especially suitable for longer-barreled .270–.45 caliber rifles. The one-piece 111.8 cm rod provides a seamless cleaning channel and leaves enough working space even with a long barrel or larger action.

For shorter firearms and more compact storage, the 91 cm (36-inch) Smart Rod may be more convenient. For .22 or .223 caliber rifles, choose the thinner AVBMSR2236 rod. For transport and quick field cleaning, a collapsible rod or caliber-specific cleaning rope is more compact.

We recommend

Before cleaning, remove the magazine and all ammunition from the firearm, open the bolt, and check the chamber both visually and physically. If possible, clean the rifle from the chamber end towards the muzzle and use a cleaning rod guide. This helps keep the rod aligned with the bore and reduces contact with the chamber edges and muzzle.

Always choose a brush, jag, and patch that match your firearm’s caliber. Oversized or tightly fitting accessories can place unnecessary stress even on a strong carbon fiber rod. Do not bend the rod sideways or use it to forcefully remove stuck objects. After use, wipe the rod clean and hang it vertically in the included wall mount. This keeps the one-piece rod straight, protected, and ready for your next maintenance.

Long carbon fiber cleaning rod for thorough gun maintenance

The Real Avid Bore-Max Smart Rod combines a 44-inch working length, rotating Ultra-Glide bearing, and comfortable vertical handle. It is a practical choice for owners of longer .270–.45 caliber rifles who want a controllable, one-piece cleaning rod that follows the barrel’s rifling.
