Frequently asked questions

What does Slow Sinking mean?

Slow Sinking means that the lure sinks slowly when paused. This allows you to make longer pauses and fish shallow or mid-depth water without the lure sinking quickly to the bottom.

How does the Inline Rig System work?

When a fish is hooked, the hook rig releases from the lure's body. This prevents the fish from using the body as leverage as effectively and helps keep the soft lure away from the fish's teeth.

Is the lure ready to use out of the package?

Yes. The lure is equipped with a wire leader, Jointed Stinger HD hook rig and release plug. However, check all connections and the condition of the hooks before the first cast.

What kind of rod should I use with this lure?

The rod's casting weight range must include at least 47 grams. You should also account for the weight of the rig and any additional attachments, and leave a reasonable margin within the rod's casting weight range.

When is the Westin Ricky the Roach Inline 15 cm the right choice?

This 15 cm, 47 g slow-sinking version is suitable for anglers who want to use the realistic profile of Ricky the Roach in shallower water or with a slow fishing style. Glitter Roach adds light-reflecting flashes to the natural roach imitation.

For reaching deeper water more quickly, the 15 cm / 52 g sinking version is a better choice. To imitate larger baitfish and fish deeper water, consider the 20 or 25 cm model, while the 35 cm / 585 g version is a specialised lure for large pike, intended for extra-heavy tackle.

Our recommendation

We recommend using the slow-sinking Ricky the Roach in shallow bays, along vegetation edges and above schools of baitfish. Start with a steady, slow retrieve and add occasional short pauses. During the pause, the lure continues to sink gently and retains its natural profile, which may provoke a following fish to strike.

Before each fishing trip, check the release plug, wire, swivels and hook sharpness. After hooking a fish or making contact with the bottom, reset the rig in the correct position. Do not store the soft lure bent for extended periods or in close contact with other soft plastic lures, as the material may deform or react. Store the lure in its original packaging where possible.
