Frequently Asked Questions

What does a closed emitter red dot mean?

A closed emitter is located in a weather-protected housing between two lenses. Rain, snow, mud, or other dirt cannot as easily get in front of the LED emitter and block the projection of the red dot.

What does a 3.5 MOA red dot mean?

A 3.5 MOA dot covers an area of about 102 mm at 100 m and about 51 mm at 50 m. It is highly visible for fast shooting but still allows for precise aiming at typical hunting distances.

Can the Aimpoint ACRO C-2 mount be installed directly on a firearm?

Not necessarily. The red dot has an integrated ACRO interface, but the package does not include a firearm-specific mounting plate or Picatinny mount. The necessary adapter must be selected according to the firearm and its optic cut or mounting rail.

Is the ACRO C-2 Orange compatible with a Picatinny rail?

Yes, but a separate ACRO Picatinny mount is required. Aimpoint offers fixed and quick-release mounts in different heights.

Is the ACRO C-2 suitable for use with night vision devices?

Yes. The red dot has two dedicated night vision compatible brightness settings and eight daylight settings.

How long does the battery last?

According to the manufacturer, up to 50,000 hours or over five years when the red dot is used at daylight brightness level 6 at room temperature. Maximum brightness, low temperature, and battery condition may shorten actual runtime.

Does the orange color affect the operation of the red dot?

No. The difference from the regular black ACRO C-2 model is mainly in the body color and Cerakote H-Series surface coating. The orange sight is easier to spot among gear and in the wild.

Are lens covers included?

No. According to Aimpoint, lens covers are not included with this product code for the orange ACRO C-2. If needed, suitable ACRO covers must be purchased separately.

When is the Aimpoint ACRO C-2 Orange the right choice?

The ACRO C-2 Orange is suitable for hunters who want a small, durable, closed-construction red dot and appreciate a highly visible orange body. It is practical for driven hunts, pistols, shotguns, or as a backup sight on a rifle, where the 3.5 MOA dot helps to quickly acquire the target.

If a larger field of view is desired and the red dot is installed only as the primary sight on a long gun, the Aimpoint Micro H-2 may be more convenient. If you prefer a smaller and more precise dot, consider the ACRO C-2 2.5 MOA variant. If your firearm lacks an ACRO interface, be sure to factor in the cost of a suitable adapter plate or mount.

Expert recommendation

The greatest practical advantage of the ACRO C-2 Orange is its closed emitter. With an open red dot, snow, raindrops, or forest debris can get in front of the emitter and alter the shape of the red dot. The ACRO's closed optical channel reduces this risk, making it well suited for hunting in changing weather conditions. The orange body does not provide a ballistic advantage but makes the small sight easier to find among equipment and in the forest.

Before purchasing, be sure to check your firearm's mounting interface. The integrated ACRO interface does not mean the red dot will fit every optic cut pistol or Picatinny rail without an adapter. Use a high-quality mounting plate designed for your firearm model and follow the 3 Nm torque recommendation unless the mounting instructions specify otherwise. After installation, zero the red dot at the range and recheck mount stability after the first shooting sessions.

Highly visible red dot for demanding hunting use

The Aimpoint ACRO C-2 Orange combines a closed emitter, 3.5 MOA red dot, 61 g weight, and up to 50,000-hour battery life. The eye-catching orange Cerakote finish makes it a practical choice for hunters who want a weatherproof and quickly locatable quality optic.
