Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 2 MOA red dot mean?

A 2 MOA dot covers an area of approximately 58 mm at 100 m and about 29 mm at 50 m. This offers a good balance between fast target acquisition and precise aiming.

Does the Aimpoint Micro H-2 have magnification?

No. This is a 1× collimator sight, which does not magnify the view. This allows for quick aiming and keeping both eyes open.

How long does the CR2032 battery last?

According to Aimpoint's measurements, up to 50,000 hours or over five years if the collimator operates at brightness setting 8 at room temperature. Higher brightness, low temperature, and battery condition may reduce actual operating time.

Can the collimator be mounted directly on a Picatinny rail?

Yes. The kit with product code 200185 includes an Aimpoint Micro standard mount suitable for Weaver and Picatinny rails. No separate base is needed for such a rail.

Is the Micro H-2 suitable for use with night vision devices?

The Micro H-2 does not have special brightness settings for night vision devices. If you wish to use the collimator with night vision goggles, choose the Aimpoint Micro T-2 or another officially NVD-compatible model.

Is the Aimpoint Micro H-2 waterproof?

Yes. According to the manufacturer, the collimator withstands immersion up to 5 m deep. After exposure to saltwater or heavy dirt, the device should be cleaned and dried.

Can you aim with the transparent covers on?

Yes. The transparent covers allow the collimator to be used with the covers closed if necessary. For the best image quality, flip up the clean covers during normal use.

Is the Aimpoint Micro H-2 suitable for firearms with heavy recoil?

The Micro H-2's robust aluminum housing is designed for use on various hunting firearms. The mount should be installed with the correct torque, and after installation, the point of impact should be confirmed at the range.

When is the Aimpoint Micro H-2 the right choice?

The Micro H-2 is suitable for hunters or sport shooters who need a compact and reliable collimator for fast shooting and do not require optical magnification. The 2 MOA dot is a universal choice: it is clearly visible for hitting moving targets, but does not cover too large an area at medium distances.

If the main use is hunting in low light with a night vision device, the NVD-compatible Micro T-2 is more suitable. For very small targets or longer shooting distances, consider an optical sight with magnification. If your firearm lacks a Weaver or Picatinny rail, select a Micro mount compatible with your firearm model.

Expert recommendation

The strength of the Aimpoint Micro H-2 is its simplicity: no complicated menu, activation via a large rotary switch, and the battery lasts for years in normal use. The 2 MOA version is the most universal in the Micro H-2 range, as it allows more precise aiming than the larger 4 or 6 MOA dot while maintaining the speed characteristic of a collimator.

Mount the sight on the firearm so that the field of view feels as open as possible in a natural shooting position. The collimator does not require a specific eye relief, but mounting it too far back may reduce situational awareness. Tighten the standard mount to the manufacturer-recommended 2 Nm and avoid overtightening the screw. After installation, shoot test groups at various distances and note the distance at which the sight is zeroed. It is advisable to replace the battery preventively on a fixed date, such as once a year before hunting season, even if the manufacturer’s stated runtime is much longer.

Compact and reliable collimator for hunting

The Aimpoint Micro H-2 2 MOA combines rapid target acquisition, a low weight of 130 g, and up to 50,000-hour battery life. With the included Weaver/Picatinny mount, the collimator is ready for installation on a suitable firearm and zeroing at the range.
