Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ACRO S-2 suitable for every shotgun?

No. The sight is designed for ventilated ribs with a width of 6–12 mm and a thickness of 1.3–3.6 mm. Before purchasing, measure the rib in several places and check that there is a suitable straight section for the mount.

What does a 9 MOA red dot mean?

9 MOA is a relatively large red dot that is quickly visible and suitable for tracking moving targets. The dot covers approximately 26 cm at 100 m and about 9 cm at 35 m.

Does the sight have magnification?

No. The ACRO S-2 has a 1× magnification, so the target is seen in its natural size. The sight is intended for use with both eyes open.

Is the ACRO S-2 suitable for use with night vision devices?

No. The manufacturer states that the ACRO S-2 model is not compatible with night vision devices. Its ten brightness settings are intended for normal lighting conditions.

Does the sight need to be zeroed before use?

Yes. Although the sight is mounted on a rib running parallel to the barrel, the actual point of impact must be checked with the appropriate ammunition and shooting distance and adjusted if necessary.

How long does the CR2032 battery last?

The manufacturer states a maximum continuous operating time of up to 50,000 hours, or over five years. Actual battery life depends on the selected brightness setting, battery quality, temperature, and usage conditions.

When is the Aimpoint ACRO S-2 the right choice?

The ACRO S-2 is suitable for shotguns where you want to install the lowest possible red dot sight on a ventilated rib without a separate Picatinny rail. The low optical axis helps maintain a natural cheek weld, and the 9 MOA dot is quickly found both on moving targets and against a bright sky.

A sight with a smaller dot may be a better choice if the goal is more precise shooting at longer distances. The strength of the ACRO S-2 is rapid target acquisition, wide field of view with both eyes open, and a low mount tailored for shotgun ribs.

Expert recommendation

Before installation, ensure the firearm is unloaded and remove ammunition from the work area. Measure the rib width and thickness precisely and select the correct base plate according to the included guide. The mount must be tightened as specified in the Aimpoint instructions—a mount that is too loose may shift, but excessive force can damage the rib or mounting parts.

After installation, check the point of impact at the range using the same ammunition and distance you intend to use regularly. When cleaning, first remove loose dust and then use a cleaning agent suitable for optics. Keep the battery compartment seal and contact surfaces clean.

Low red dot sight for shotgun rib

The Aimpoint ACRO S-2 combines a 9 MOA red dot, a fully enclosed housing, and an ultra-low rib mount. Interchangeable base plates, long battery life, and 5 m water resistance make this a practical sight for hunting and sporting clays.
