Frequently asked questions

Is this a Walther PDP F-Series model?

Walther officially identifies product code 2878241 as the PDP 5" Match Polymer with a full-size polymer frame. It should not be confused with the separate PDP F-Series, which has grip and operating dimensions designed specifically for smaller hands.

How does the Polymer Match differ from a standard PDP?

The Match configuration adds the Dynamic Performance Trigger, an aluminium magazine well, aluminium magazine base pads and a slide with dynamic lightening cuts. Walther specifies one 18-round and two 20-round magazines for the factory package.

Is a red-dot sight included?

No. The slide is optics ready, but the sight is purchased separately. An appropriate Walther PDP adapter plate may also be required, depending on the mounting footprint of the selected optic.

Are the 20-round magazines permitted in every shooting competition?

Not necessarily. Permitted magazine length and loaded capacity depend on the rules of the shooting discipline and competition division. Check the applicable rules before an event.

Which spare magazines are compatible?

Use magazines made for the Walther PDP Full Size frame. Because the pistol has an aluminium magazine well, the magazine base pad must also provide sufficient clearance for positive insertion and removal.

What is required to purchase this pistol?

This is a regulated firearm. Purchase and transfer require the applicable firearm licence, identity verification and compliance with current Estonian law and the retailer’s procedures.

When is the Walther PDP 5" Polymer Match the right choice?

This model is well suited to shooters who want full-size PDP ergonomics, a 127 mm barrel and factory-installed competition-oriented features without the additional weight of a steel frame. Its Dynamic Performance Trigger and longer sighting radius support controlled, repeatable shooting.

A standard PDP Full Size may be preferable when price and a simpler configuration are the priorities. A steel-frame PDP Match provides greater mass and a different balance but is considerably heavier. A Compact model is the better option when a shorter grip and smaller overall dimensions are more important.

Expert recommendation

Before ordering an optic or mounting plate, verify both the generation of the pistol’s optics interface and the mounting footprint of the sight. A direct-mount optic can simplify the installation, but compatibility should still be confirmed for the individual pistol.

When buying spare magazines, account for the aluminium magazine well. A standard flat base pad may be less convenient than a Match-compatible extended base pad. After changing the sight or grip components, verify reliable operation under controlled range conditions. Before cleaning, remove the magazine, visually and physically check the chamber and keep all ammunition away from the maintenance area.

Match-level equipment with a lighter polymer frame

The Walther PDP 5" Match Polymer combines a 127 mm polygonal barrel, Dynamic Performance Trigger, optics-ready slide and aluminium magazine well with a full-size polymer frame. It is a well-equipped option for sport shooters who want PDP Match features without the additional mass of a steel-frame pistol.
