Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Sleeper Extreme differ from the Sleeper Lite?

The Sleeper Extreme is warmer: its comfort temperature is –7 °C, while the Sleeper Lite is –5 °C. The Extreme is also heavier and has a larger packed volume.

Is it comfortable to sleep in the bag at –12 °C?

–12 °C is the lower temperature limit. For regular comfort, you should rely on the –7 °C rating and allow a safety margin according to conditions.

Is the bag suitable for backpacking?

It is possible, but the 2.1 kg weight and 30 × 26 cm packed size make it more suitable for base or car camping than for lightweight long-distance trekking.

When is the Snugpak Sleeper Extreme the right choice?

The Sleeper Extreme is suitable when the warmth of the Sleeper Lite may not be enough and the nights often drop well below zero. It is a good choice for cold weather base camps and overnight stays accessible by car.

For long-distance hiking, consider lighter sleeping bags. For planned overnights below –7 °C, allow extra warmth or choose the Sleeper Expedition.

Recommendations

In addition to air temperature, consider ground chill and wind. Use a sleeping mat with a high R-value and protect the sleeping bag from direct moisture. Proper adjustment of the shoulder baffle and hood reduces heat loss.

The –12 °C lower limit should not be used for planning regular comfort. Cold-sensitive users should choose a bag with a greater temperature margin. After your trip, dry the sleeping bag thoroughly and store it in a spacious storage sack if possible.

Basecamp sleeping bag for cold weather

The Snugpak Sleeper Extreme Olive combines a –7 °C comfort temperature, heat-retaining mummy shape, and durable synthetic materials. It is a practical choice for cold camp conditions.
