The Ka-Bar EK51 EK Commando Knife is the modern interpretation of the classic EK Commando knife. This version has a drop point blade shape where the back of the knife gradually slopes down to the tip. This shape makes for a strong blade with a robust tip that is suitable for heavier cutting and piercing work. The origins of the design, and the handle design in particular, dates back to World War II. In 1941 the original EK Commando Knife was designed by John Ek. Ever since this knife, and the versions that followed it, were used in almost all wars the United States was involved in. This might give you an idea of how much history comes with this design.

Ka-Bar EK51 blade
This knife can handle its own. The blade is 4 mm thick and runs throughout the entire handle. This is known as a full-tang construction. The blade is made from 1095 carbon steel. This is a strong and tough type of steel, but it is not stainless. Fortunately the blade is enhanced with a black coating to make sure maintenance is a lot easier. It's also easy to sharpen 1095 steel. The forgiving properties of the 1095 steel allow this knife to handle almost anything.

The comfortable handle is made from glass-fibre reinforced nylon. A sustainable light-weight and strong type of plastic. The iconic facets of the original EK Commando Knife are well represented in this design. This is not just a nod to history, it also makes the knife feel great in hand and it offers lots of grip. The handle is attached to the blade with 3 screws on either side. These are removable, in case you want to do a deep-clean or if you want to replace your handle scales.
The included plastic sheath offers you a comfortable and safe way of carrying the knife.
