Fobus SWMP is an outside-the-waistband polymer holster for Smith & Wesson M&P and SD series pistols, as well as selected Diamondback and Shadow Systems models. The pressure of the passive retention system can be adjusted by the user with a screw. The Jahipaun paddle attachment variant is right-handed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the SWMP fit the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield?

No. Fobus clearly states that the SWMP is not compatible with Shield series pistols. The narrower frame of the Shield requires a holster designed for that model family.

Does the holster fit the M&P 10 mm model?

No. The manufacturer excludes the 10 mm version from the compatibility list. Models that are similar in caliber or appearance should not be forced into the holster.

How do I adjust the retention pressure?

Turn the adjustment screw in small increments and check the result after each change with a completely unloaded firearm. The screw should not be overtightened, as the gun must release with a firm but smooth draw.

Does the SWMP fit pistols with red dot sights or high sights?

Compatibility depends on the size and position of the sights. Fobus at least excludes the high-sight M&P M2.0 9 mm version. The compatibility of an optical sight configuration must be checked separately before use.

Does the Shadow Systems MR920 with threaded barrel fit in the holster?

Yes. Fobus lists the MR920 as compatible with both standard and threaded barrels. Other accessories, such as a weapon light, may still affect compatibility.

When is the Fobus SWMP the right choice?

The SWMP is suitable for users who have a Smith & Wesson, Diamondback, or Shadow Systems pistol listed by the manufacturer and who want a simple OWB holster with adjustable passive retention.

It is not the right choice for the M&P Shield, 10 mm M&P, or configurations with a weapon light. For these, select a holster designed for the specific frame and accessory.

Start with the factory setting of the adjustment screw and make changes gradually. With the correct setting, the unloaded pistol will stay in the holster during normal movement but will release with a consistent vertical draw.

After adjusting the screw, check both retention and draw several times. During practice, all ammunition must be removed from the work area and your finger should remain straight outside the trigger guard.
