Frequently asked questions

Does the FMJ bullet expand?

No. It is a non-expanding full-metal-jacket bullet officially intended for range and target shooting.

Are .223 Remington and 5.56×45 NATO always interchangeable?

No. Follow the firearm’s chamber marking and manufacturer instructions. A similar external appearance does not automatically confirm compatibility.

Does the bulk pack have different ballistics from the 20-round box?

When both contain the same 3.6 g FMJ loading, the basic cartridge construction and published ballistics are the same. Packaging and product codes may nevertheless differ.

Is this hunting ammunition?

The manufacturer classifies the FMJ load for training and target shooting. Hunting requires a projectile appropriate for the intended use and applicable regulations.

Recommended products

• Expanding .223 Remington hunting loads

• Shooting targets

• Hearing and eye protection

• Ammunition storage

• Rifle-cleaning equipment

When is S&B .223 Rem FMJ Bulk the right choice?

The 100-cartridge bulk pack suits shooters who regularly use a .223 Remington firearm for training. Its FMJ bullet is practical for target shooting but is not a substitute for an expanding hunting projectile.

Expert recommendation

Verify feeding and accuracy in the individual firearm before adopting any load for regular use. When similar firearms or magazine systems are used with different calibres, keep .223 Remington ammunition clearly labelled and separate.
