No. Ballistol Classic felts are mounted on a compatible felt holder and pushed through the bore with a cleaning rod. They should not be confused with Ballistol quick-cleaning felts designed to be fired through an airgun barrel.

How should the cleaning felts be used?

Confirm that the firearm is completely unloaded, remove the magazine and ammunition, and inspect the chamber. Attach the correct felt to a compatible holder, moisten it with gun oil or bore cleaner if required, and pass it smoothly through the bore. Clean from the chamber towards the muzzle whenever the firearm’s design permits.

Can the felts be used dry?

Yes. A dry felt can remove loose residue, dry the bore and help check the cleaning result. A moistened felt can distribute bore cleaner or a thin protective film of gun oil.

Can one felt be reused?

Using a fresh felt once the previous one becomes dirty is recommended. Passing a contaminated felt repeatedly through the bore can transfer removed residue back onto the internal surfaces.

Will these felts remove heavy copper or metal fouling?

Classic felts are intended primarily for normal fouling and for applying oil or cleaning products. Heavy copper, gilding-metal or hardened powder residue may require a suitable chemical cleaner, bronze brush or Ballistol special cleaning felts containing metal fibres.
