Frequently Asked Questions

Which size Westin RawBite should I choose?

The 11 cm and 26 g model is suitable for lighter tackle and fishing in shallower water. The 15 cm variant is a universal choice for pike and zander. The 17 cm and 100 g model is ideal for targeting large pike and reaching depths of up to about four meters.

How does the RawBite long-cast system work?

During the cast, the steel ball moves to the rear of the lure, helping it fly farther and more stably. When you start retrieving, the ball returns to the belly, where it supports the lure's balance, action, and sound effect.

Is the Westin RawBite suitable for trolling?

Yes. The RawBite is designed for both casting and trolling. When trolling, the achieved depth depends on speed, line length, line diameter, and the selected lure size.

Should I use a leader when fishing for pike?

Yes. Use a bite-resistant leader and strong connectors matched to the lure size and expected catch. After each fish or bottom contact, check the leader, rings, and hooks.

When is the Westin RawBite Crankbait the right choice?

The RawBite is a great choice when you need a strongly vibrating and highly visible lure for actively searching for pike or zander. The wide action and internal sound chamber help predators find the lure even in murky water, and the long-cast system allows you to cover a large fishing area from shore or boat.

For a quieter presentation, very clear water, or cautious fish, a lure with less vibration and a weaker sound effect may be more suitable. In shallow vegetation, use a lure that works shallower, as the larger RawBite variants can reach depths of 3–4 m during retrieve.

Recommendations

Choose your tackle according to the lure's weight. The 26 g model can be used with standard stronger spinning gear, but the 61 g and especially the 100 g variant require a rod with a suitable casting weight, a strong reel, and line with sufficient breaking strength. Always check that the leader, snap, and split rings match the lure and the potential catch size.

After casting, start retrieving immediately so the weight ball moves into working position and the lure achieves a regular swimming action. If the fish do not respond to steady retrieve, change the speed or add short pauses. The floating lure will rise during a pause, which may trigger a strike from a following predator.

When trolling, vary the depth with speed and line length. Do not assume the lure always runs at the manufacturer's listed maximum depth, as actual working depth is also affected by line diameter, current, and boat speed.

Strongly vibrating lure for large predatory fish

The Westin RawBite Crankbait combines wide swimming action, an internal sound chamber, and a moving steel ball long-cast system. Three sizes allow you to choose the right floating lure for active casting or trolling for pike and zander at depths of 1–4 m.
