Frequently Asked Questions

What does R2F mean?

R2F stands for "Ready to Fish". The lure comes equipped with hooks and can be used immediately after attaching a suitable leader or trace.

How do you retrieve the Ricky the Roach Multi Jointed lure?

The lure is primarily designed for steady retrieval. The nine-jointed tail produces a tight S-shaped swimming action, while the front of the lure remains relatively stable.

How can you fish deeper with this lure?

Let the sinking lure descend to the desired depth before starting to retrieve. For deeper water, you can attach a suitable Westin Switch Weight or other designated extra weight to the additional attachment loop.

Which size should I choose for pike fishing?

The 14 cm and 41 g model is versatile and easier to use with lighter tackle. The 18 cm and 83 g model creates a larger silhouette and is better suited for targeting big pike.

When is the Ricky the Roach Multi Jointed R2F the right choice?

This lure is a great choice when you want a search bait with a realistic roach appearance and natural S-shaped swimming action for covering larger water areas. The nine-jointed tail activates even with steady retrieve, so the lure does not require complex rod work.

The 14 cm model is better suited for versatile everyday pike fishing and use with lighter tackle. The 18 cm variant is intended for those who prefer a larger lure profile and for targeted big pike fishing. In very shallow or densely vegetated waters, a floating or shallow-running lure may be easier to control.

We recommend

Before your first cast, check the lure's swimming action in shallow, clear water. During steady retrieve, the nine-jointed tail should move tightly from side to side while the front remains stable. Start with a slow retrieve and gradually increase speed until you find the most natural movement for the given water conditions.

With a sinking lure, you can systematically fish different water layers by counting seconds after the cast as the lure sinks. For deeper water, use the extra weight attachment loop, but choose a weight that does not compromise the lure's natural swimming action.

The rod's casting weight range for the 14 cm and 41 g model should include at least 41 grams. The heavier 18 cm and 83 g lure requires a correspondingly stronger rod, reel, line, and terminal tackle. When fishing for pike, always use a bite-resistant leader and check the condition of the hooks, joints, and wire-through body after each catch.
